Questions and Answers

Here are some of the most common questions we are asked about carpet cleaning:

Q: I see so many ads that advertise rates lower than I can rent a machine and do it myself for… do they really clean carpets that inexpensively?

A: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Most of these advertised prices would not pay for the vehicle gas for the cleaner to get to your home, much less to actually clean your carpet. Be careful of “over the phone” quotes or low advertised prices, they tend to go up when this “bargain” arrives at your door. That can be very frustrating when you’ve taken the time to prepare for them and it leads to a big disappointment. Preconditioning, pre-spotting and everything it takes to give you the cleanest possible carpet you can get anywhere are always included in our Aero-Clean Landreth Service written estimate.

Q: There are so many methods of cleaning advertised, how do I know which to choose?

A: To care for your new car, you turn to your manufacturer’s recommendations. For care of clothing, you check the manufacturer’s tag. Carpet is no different. There’s no tag of course, but you should get an owner’s warranty and care manual from your dealer.

Over the years the research done by carpet mills has shown that hot water extraction removes deep down soil and contaminants. This makes it not only better appearing but healthier to live with, as well as longer lasting. There is no need for harsh chemicals or aggressive scrubbing; thereby, avoiding damage to fibers. No residue is left behind, which means new soil is not attracted to the clean fibers, and your family is not exposed to chemicals. These findings have led most mills to recommend the hot water extraction method at a frequency of at least every 18 months. Aero-Clean Landreth Service uses Truck-Mounted hot water extraction along with other methods recommended by your carpet manufacturer.

Q: My pets have had “accidents” on the carpet. Is there anything that can be done for these areas?

A: Yes! Rinsing and extraction of the area is usually required. We use solutions that can, in most cases neutralize and deodorize these areas. Each situation, however, is unique and must be evaluated. On urine spots, it’s generally a good idea for you to first fold a white towel or cloth and lay it over the spot, then step down on it to blot up the excess moisture. Next you can apply white vinegar, which usually will help to prevent further damage such as color loss until a professional can be scheduled.

Q: Should I expect a guarantee for the work I receive from a professional carpet cleaner?

A: Absolutely! A service is not like a product. You can’t see it or touch it until the service is completed. You can’t judge the value in advance. A guarantee is the least you should expect. We always work with our customers to evaluate their needs and expectations in advance. We then let them know what we can or can’t do… no sugar coating here. Once we complete the cleaning Aero-Clean Landreth Service provides our 30-day “peace of mind” warranty against returning spots.

Q: Can I clean my carpets too often?

A: We have a commercial client we clean pathways for every week (52 weeks per year). We’ve been doing this for 7 years. They have field personnel who track in mud and soil every day, all week long. Weekly pathway cleaning prevents unsightly soil from tracking throughout the facility. Recently an environmental/air quality consultant was called in to do some testing. Results of this test showed the facility to be one of the healthiest and cleanest they’ve ever recorded. In addition, the carpet still looks like new!
Regularly Scheduled Maintenance by Aero-Clean Landreth Service is your best protection against the build-up and spread of soils and pollutants. It is also a good preventive measure against “sick building syndrome”.

Q: I’ve noticed that it’s possible to purchase “do it yourself" carpet cleaning machines very inexpensively. Is this a wise thing to do; should I clean my own carpet?

A: “That depends”. The “do it yourself” machines are fine for emergency spills and light spotting. If your carpet is already heavily soiled, then it may be too late. Water can penetrate deeper by gravity than the suction of the “do it yourself” machine can extract. If you attempt to deep clean with them, you can cause some irreversible damage and would have been better off to call in a “Pro”. There is one additional consideration to keep in mind; that is, that the “do it yourself” machines do require repairs and upkeep.

If you do buy a machine, you should still budget for Aero-Clean Landreth Service at a minimum of 18 months to 2 years.

Q: How do I know how to choose a reputable company to clean my carpets?

A: It’s a good idea to get referrals whenever possible. If that’s not possible, look for a long history of success in the area, proper insurance, licensing and referrals.
